Lawyers Ask California To Lift Gay Marriage Ban
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Supporters of gay marriage in California demanded that a court-ordered hold on same-sex marriages be lifted immediately on Wednesday after a dramatic policy reversal by the Obama administration.

The stay was issued after a U.S. district judge found the gay marriage ban unconstitutional.
The court filing comes on the same day the White House says it will no longer defend the constitutionality of a law that bans the recognition of same-sex marriages.
