LAUSD Teachers To Protest $557M In Proposed Cuts, Layoffs
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District are expected to protest Tuesday as the school board meets to consider budget cuts and layoffs.
The district will discuss its proposed $6 billion budget that calls for roughly $557 million in cuts.
Adult education, preschool and elementary school arts programs are all in danger of being eliminated.
Officials are also considering a proposed plan to issue 7,500 layoff warning notices.
If approved, this would be the fourth consecutive year teachers will be given layoff notices.
