LAUSD Asks For Reprieve From Whooping Cough Mandate
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles Unified School District is asking Gov. Jerry Brown for a reprieve from a new state law that requires students to be vaccinated for whooping cough.
All seventh through 12th grade students are now required receive the DTaP immunization, which protects against Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.
The district briefly ran out of the vaccine and Superintendent John Deasy says thousands of students need more time get vaccinated.
