LA's Newest Basketball Sensation Is Only 8 Years Old
SIMI VALLEY (CBS) — He's only eight, but you could say this kid is already rather courtly.
Basketball court-ly that is. He's only eight, but Jaden Miranda of Simi Valley says he's already met the love of his life: basketball.
He made his first basket when he was two and his parents say he's self-taught.
His latest claim to fame? A recent buzzer-beater caught on camera.
Miranda calls the shot "the best day of my life."
His parents marvel at his love of the game -- except not when he dribbles around the house, says his mother.
And she says, "I played a little in high school. But I'm not a basketball player."
Jaden, however, is a different story.
He recently became the school hero for sinking a basket, an impossible shot really, from half court. "I was just thinking, I should try to do a layup. But I only had four seconds left. So...I just went for it," he says, matter-of-fact.
His new goal? Playing in the NBA and becoming another Michael Jordan.
No surprise, his parents are firmly in his corner. "I do believe he has a special gift," says his mom.
