LAPD To Wear Black Bands On Badges To Honor Slain NYPD Officers
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police announced on Saturday that they will wear black bands on their badges to honor two New York police officers that were fatally shot in Brooklyn.
LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck posted on his Twitter account in response to hearing of the slain officers:

Beck announced the movement just hours after the ambush killings.
"Our hearts go out to the entire NYPD family as they mourn the tragic loss of two brothers," Beck said.
Los Angeles Urban Policy Rountable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other Los Angeles civil right leaders extended their heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families and loved ones of the officers.
"The loss of a life, whether it's a police officer or a civilian, must be deeply mourned," Hutchinson said. "The tragic and horrendous shooting of the two NYPD officers tragically underscores that."
The officers were shot execution-style in the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn.
Authorities reported the shooting suspect committed suicide.
