LAPD Submits Findings To DA To Decide If Charges Are Warranted Against Cosby For Alleged 2008 Sexual Assault
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The LAPD has submitted their findings of an alleged sexual assault in 2008 by Bill Cosby at the Playboy Mansion to the DA's office to determine if any charges are warranted.
Cosby has never been charged with a crime, despite allegations by about 50 women across the country.
Through his attorney he has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. In a 2005 deposition, however, the comedian admitted to drugging women with quaaludes.
"LAPD formally presented a case yesterday regarding Bill Cosby and it's under review by our Sex Crimes Division," Jane Robison of the DA's Office told City News Service. She did not provide any specifics.
In January Chloe Goins met with LAPD detectives and alleged Cosby took advantage of her at the Playboy Mansion in 2008. She said Cosby took her to a bedroom where she passed out and later came to with him licking her toes while he pleasured himself.
Goins was 18 at the time, according to her attorney, Spencer Kuvin.
Kuvin claimed Cosby gave Goins a drink, and the next thing she remembered was waking up naked in bed next to the comedian.
Cosby's attorney has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing by the comedian and has dismissed the allegations as baseless.
Goins is one of around 50 women across the country who have accused Cosby, 78, of drugging them and sexually assaulting them -- many dating back decades, exceeding the statute of limitations in all of the jurisdictions.
Last December, Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to file charges against Cosby over allegations that he sexually assaulted Judy Huth in 1974, also at the Playboy Mansion. Huth -- who was 15 in 1974 -- has hired attorney Gloria Allred. Prosecutors said they could not pursue a case because the statute of limitations in California had expired.
Huth is suing the comedian, and he is scheduled to undergo a deposition in the case Oct. 9.
Allred introduced three more alleged victims Wednesday. The women included a former Mrs. America who claimed Cosby lured her to a hotel room under the pretense of auditioning for a movie and then tried to kiss her before she pushed him away.
