LAPD May Review Info Leaks In Wake Of South LA Officer Shooting
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A newly-revised account of the shooting of an LAPD officer in South Los Angeles last week has raised questions in the department about how so much misinformation was reported as fact.
KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports now officials are considering a multi-level investigation to figure out what went wrong.

According to most media reports, the officer who was hit by gunfire was struck in the hand and twice in the chest, with both doctors and police officials crediting body armor for saving his life.
But a new version of the story indicates the officer was actually not wearing a vest at all, the cause of injuries to his chest still not resolved, and that a suspect who was shot and wounded was not even a suspect — nor was that person shot at all.
A preliminary investigation points to the presence of more than 100 officers at the scene as a possible reason why accurate information was not getting to the upper levels of the department.
Police on Wednesday arrested 25-year-old Darvin Cook, who is accused of opening fire at the officers last week as they got out of their patrol car. Another suspect is still believed to be at large.
