Security Guard Critically Injured In Koreatown Jewelry Store Heist
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A security guard was clubbed with a hammer by one of two men who tried to rob a Koreatown jewelry store Tuesday, authorities said.
Los Angeles police and fire responded initially to a shooting call around 11 a.m. at CC Diamonds, 3240 Wilshire Boulevard, officials said.
Police say one man struck a guard on the head with a hammer before the suspects tried to rob the business. The security guard was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.
The suspects tried to hijack a BMW from a woman as they fled, then
successfully took a van from someone else, police said. It was unknown if the suspects stole any merchandise.
