A driver fleeing from police crashed into an innocent driver in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.

The chase started earlier about 10 miles away in the city of Marina del Rey, where deputies received a report of a robbery involving a weapon, according to LA County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Pickerel. Deputies started pursuing a vehicle matching the description given in the robbery call before Los Angeles Police Department officers took over the chase.

Pickerel said there was only one suspect in the robbery and it's unclear if anyone was injured or any shots were fired.

At about 3 p.m., SkyCal was overhead just as the chase was coming to an end,  with a black sedan seen speeding through the streets of Koreatown before going further west into the Mid-Wilshire area. It was traveling at about 80 miles per hour when it slammed into a white SUV at the intersection of West 5th Street and South Wilton Place at 3:09 p.m.

The impact sent the SUV spinning in a circle before it was flung onto a sidewalk at one corner of the intersection. Meanwhile, the sedan swerved off the road and onto another part of the sidewalk before slamming into a building.

The woman inside of the car, who has not yet been identified, remains hospitalized in unknown condition after the collision.

Mila Molinari says that the entire ordeal happened way too close to home.

"I look and there was like a car that came extremely fast coming down the street, which crashed in another car that was just normal, and this car spin around and crash straight into the wall of my living room," she said. "I felt the whole building shaking."

A person inside the black car then ran from the wreckage and went inside a nearby building.

Officers were seen standing just outside the building, and moments later, a few of them surrounded the suspect's car. They pulled another individual out and placed them into handcuffs. At 3:13 p.m., at least six officers walked towards the building where the suspect had fled inside, keeping their firearms raised as they walked through a parking area just outside the building.

The person handcuffed by officers was later seen being placed onto a stretcher and into an ambulance. More than a dozen police patrol vehicles remained parked at the intersection where the crash happened as officers continued to investigate.

All three suspects inside of the car were taken into custody shortly after the collision, police said.

Though she and other residents say that there are often crashes at the intersection, they've never seen something quite like this.

"It sounded like screaming, also because of the helicopters," said Lauren Snyder. "it sounded like a war zone."
