Police Arrest 17-Year-Old In Fatal Stabbing Of 18-Year-Old Friend In Sylmar
SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police detectives arrested a 17-year-old for the fatal stabbing of his 18-year-old male friend in Sylmar.
Around 9 a.m. on Thursday, the 17-year-old alerted police and told them that he believed his friend was injured inside the 18-year-old's home.
Officers responded to the home in the 14000 block of Astoria Street and forced entry believing they were dealing with a life or death emergency. Once inside, they discovered 18-year-old Christopher Handy dead as a result of a stabbing.
The victim found dead in bed was declared deceased at the scene.
Officials said Handy lived in the townhouse with his mother and siblings. Handy's family was not at home at the time of the murder and police do not believe any family members were involved.
Police on Friday evening said they found enough inconsistencies in the friend's story to believe he was responsible for the murder.
A second suspect is also being sought, police said.
