Lakers Waive 2 Before Taking Off For London
EL SEGUNDO (AP) -- The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Anthony Roberson and center Russell Hicks just hours before embarking on their European tour.
Roberson and Hicks were signed Sept. 24 to fill out the training camp roster for the Lakers. They were waived Thursday.
The moves leave Los Angeles with 16 players on the club's eight-day trip to London and Barcelona for exhibition games.
The Lakers were due to leave for London later Thursday.
Injured center Andrew Bynum is the only player who definitely won't play in Europe. Kobe Bryant hasn't decided how much he'll test his surgically repaired right knee, but coach Phil Jackson suggests Bryant might play in a couple of eight-minute stretches in each game.
