Lakers' Home Opener Draws Huge Local TV Ratings
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers have proved why they are the hottest ticket in town.
The highly anticipated debut of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash on TNT drew a stunning 11.3 local average overnight rating and peaked at 12.6.
Even though the Lakers fell to the Dallas Mavericks 99-91, approximately 630,000 households within the market tuned in to watch LA's hottest team.
There hasn't been a local rating this high for a Lakers regular season game, regardless of cable or over-the-air, since 2004 when Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat faced the Lakers on ABC 7 which drew 17.0.
Nationally, Tuesday night's opener is up slightly from the 2010 opener against the Rockets with a 4.279 rating.
Wednesday's nights game between Lakers and Trailblazers will be on exclusively on Time Warner SportsNet, locally at 7:30PM.
Only TWC, Charter, FIOS and U-Verse providers have the TWC SportsNet Channel.
