Lakers Fan Sinks $95,000 Half-Court Shot

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Lakers fan David Moya got more than he expected at Sunday night's Lakers victory over the Phoenix Suns at Staples Center.

Moya, a competitive power lifter from Northern California who was at the game with his son, walked onto the floor between the third and fourth quarters for an intermission ritual: the big-money half-court shot that rarely falls through the net.

This time was different, however.

Moya confidently jumped from just behind the half-court line, released the ball and watched it soar through the net -- no backboard needed.

Right away, Moya began celebrating as he basked in cheers from the crowd and got high-fives from Lakers players Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and Nick Young.

Moya told NBA.com he practiced for the shot by shooting hoops with his son and daughter. He said he plans to use some of his winnings to see Kobe's last game at the Staples Center later this season.

"My grandfather that passed away a few years back was a Lakers fan and introduced me to the Lakers," Moya told NBA.com.
