Lakers Crush Jazz For 1st Win Of Season
LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike Brown has secured his first victory with his new team, as the Lakers (1-2) crushed the Utah Jazz (0-1) 96- 71 on Tuesday night at the Staples Center.
Playing their third game in as many nights, the Lakers used a 13-0 run in the first half, culminated by a powerful one-handed dunk by Metta World Peace and Los Angeles never looked back, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Kobe Bryant scored 26 points, including crossing-over rival Raja Bell before throwing down a slam dunk in the second quarter and Pau Gasol scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Jazz, playing in their first game of the season looked lost offensively, scoring just 46 points through three-quarters.
Los Angeles will have Wednesday off before taking on the New York Knicks on Thursday night at Staples Center.
