Lakers, Clippers Advance To Playoffs, STAPLES To Host 7 Games
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — LA fans will see both of their hometown teams in the NBA Playoffs when the first round kicks off this weekend.
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Sacramento Kings 112-108 Wednesday night to clinch the fourth seed and advance to the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies at the STAPLES Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
KNX1070's Jon Baird spoke with fans at the STAPLES Center on Thursday.
"They're looking real good, should be a lot of fun. Let's see if they go all the way," said one fan.
L.A. Fans React to Playoff Lineup, Increased Security
After getting off to a shaky start this season, the Los Angeles Lakers secured the seventh seed when the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Utah Jazz 86-70 on Thursday. The team then went on to win over the Houston Rockets 99-95 in overtime.
The Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
The NBA Playoffs come in the wake of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Increased security is expected at upcoming games.
"I think they're beefing it up everywhere. I'm sure that everybody's gonna be aware and look out for anything suspicious," a fan said.
STAPLES Center is scheduled to host 7 games in the fist round.
