Laguna Hills Pastor Gets 330 Years For Child Sex Assaults
SANTA ANA (AP) — An Orange County pastor has been sentenced to 330 years in prison for sexually assaulting five boys who were members of his parish.
The district attorney's office said Friday that 69-year-old Oscar Perez was convicted of 26 felony charges relating to the assaults during a trial in July.
Prosecutors say Perez assaulted the boys, ages nine to 15, from 2007 to 2011 while they were visiting or sleeping over in his Lake Forest apartment.
One of the boys told his mother, who reported it to the sheriff's department. The subsequent investigation revealed four other victims.
Perez represented himself as an Apostolic pastor and bishop at Iglesia Antigua in Laguna Hills. Prosecutors say he gained the boys' friendship by having them assist with church services.
