LADWP Urges Residents To Turn Off Sprinklers During Storm
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Wednesday urged customers to turn off their sprinklers and save water during the two upcoming winter storms.
"With the current drought conditions we are experiencing in California, we continue to remind our customers that we need to make every drop count," said Martin Adams, LADWP's Acting General Manager. "Turning off sprinklers with heavy rain in the forecast and after it rains is a very simple way for our customers to save water and prevent needless waste."
KNX 1070's Megan Goldsby reports customers should leave watering systems off for up to one week following the storms without affecting the health of grass, plants and other foliage.

"Conservation experts estimate the average residential customer would save about 500 gallons by not watering outdoors for a week, which would also result in savings on water bills," officials added.
Department of Public Works president Kevin James said the city will also be restricting use of its own sprinkler systems over the next few days.
Watering outdoors during rain is prohibited under LA's Mandatory Water Conservation Ordinance.
