LA Valley College Gets All-Clear After 'Serious' Threats Are Called In And Campus Is Evacuated
VALLEY GLEN (CBSLA.com) — The campus of Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen was evacuated Wednesday after officials said "serious" threats were received.
Officials gave the all-clear around 4 p.m. but evening classes remain canceled.
KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner said the threats were serious enough that the bomb squad called in a bomb-detecting robot.
The school tweeted out around 3 p.m. that they received several "serious" threats. They called for an immediate evacuation out of safety concerns.
The Sheriff's Department told Kasnter there was also a report of a suspicious package found at a construction zone. The suspicious package turned out to be a backpack and pipe-looking object, reported Kastner.
Authorities on campus urged students and faculty to leave "immediately and calmly."
One student told Kastner there was a mixture of emotions among students including fear, panic, fright and some were even laughing.
