Woman Faces DUI Charge After Pinning 1-Year-Old Son, Baby's Father Under SUV
LA PUENTE (CBS) — A woman whose SUV accidentally struck the father of her 1-year-old child as he was holding the baby in the garage of their La Puente home was behind bars Saturday and facing a DUI charge.
The accident happened in the 700 block of Duff Ave. about 10:40 p.m. Friday, CHP Officer Anthony Martin said. Both the man and the baby were pinned under the vehicle, according to Martin.
The man was said to be in critical condition, according to Los Angeles County firefighters. No information was made available about injuries to the baby.
A videographer at the scene was told the woman got out of the vehicle in the driveway, but left it running and in gear. When it started rolling toward the man and the baby, the woman got back into the vehicle to stop it, but apparently stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, he said.
The woman, whose name was unavailable early today, was given a field sobriety test and arrested, Martin said.
