LA Pot Clinics Told To Post Nearly $350K Bond
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Medical marijuana clinics that won a court order blocking a new Los Angeles pot law must cough up nearly $350,000 if they want that injunction to take effect.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Anthony Mohr ruled last month that key parts of the law were unconstitutional -- including the procedure used to decide which pot dispensaries can stay open and which must close.
City officials complained that closed pot stores already are reopening even though authorities plan to appeal the ruling. On Monday, the judge ordered nearly 50 clinics who won the injunction to post a nearly $350,000 bond within the next 10 days.
An attorney for some clinics, David Welch, tells the Los Angeles Times that he's confident the bond will be posted.
