LA Philharmonic Extends Dudamel's Contract To 2019
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for at least eight more years.
The philharmonic announced Thursday that Dudamel's five-year contract, which would have expired in 2014, has been extended through the 2018-2019 season. The philharmonic was established in 1919.
The 30-year-old Dudamel joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as music director in 2009, succeeding Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Orchestra president Deborah Borda told the Los Angeles Times that board members ratified the decision during an international phone conference on Thursday.
