Shooting Victim Crashes Car Into Home, Dies
LA MIRADA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities were investigating the death of a 29-year-old man who was shot and then crashed a vehicle into a house in La Mirada Friday night.
The shooting occurred at 8 p.m. in the 14100 block of Mansa Drive where responding deputies found the victim in a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The man's vehicle had crashed into the attached garage of a residence.
Homicide investigators believe the victim was driving north on Parise Drive, turning onto Mansa Drive, while the suspect's vehicle turned south on Parise Drive from Mansa Drive.
As the two vehicles were passing each other, gunshots were fired from the suspect's vehicle into the victim's vehicle, Schrader said.
The suspect fled in a light colored vehicle, south on Parise Drive, to west on Lymark Street, and out of view, Schrader said.
It wasn't immediately clear how many occupants were in the suspect's vehicle and a description of the shooter was not available.
Following the shooting, the victim's vehicle traveled a few houses east on Mansa Drive, and crashed into the garage.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Schrader said.
Police tell CBS2 the victim lived a couple of blocks from the crash
LASD is still trying to determine motive.
