LA Man Pleads Guilty After Being Caught Trying To Ship $3M In Pot To Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A judge has accepted the guilty plea of one California man and sentenced another for what authorities say is their connection to a $3 million scheme to ship marijuana to Ohio in suitcases.
Six people have either pleaded guilty or indicated they'll plead guilty since authorities broke up the operation last year.
Los Angeles resident Henry Hernandez on Friday pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute more than 200 pounds of marijuana. No sentencing date was set.
U.S. District Judge Algenon Marbley also sentenced co-defendant Frank Edwards of Hacienda, Calif., to 12 months and one day in prison.
As part of his plea agreement earlier this year, Edwards agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors in exchange for a lighter sentence.
