LA Man Convicted Of Killing 5-Year-Old Niece Found Sane
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A jury has found that a man convicted of killing his 5-year-old niece and hiding her body was sane at the time of the fatal stabbing.
LA County prosecutors say a jury deliberated for a few hours Friday before determining that 29-year-old Julian Carter was sane when he killed Mireya McCall.
Prosecutors say Mireya was originally reported missing by her mother, but her body was found in a trash bag inside Carter's closet.
A jury convicted Carter of second-degree murder in February, but on the question of whether Carter was sane, the first jury deadlocked.
Carter faces 32 years to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in late July.
