LA Man Accused In Kidnap, Rape Of Estranged Wife
MALIBU (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of kidnapping his estranged wife at gunpoint and raping her in her car.
Detectives said Sunday they arrested 27-year-old Rudy Zendejas in Los Angeles around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
Zendejas is accused of kidnapping his wife as she left work Friday evening in Malibu. He allegedly forced her to drive to a dimly lit, residential area of central Los Angeles, where he is accused of sexually assaulting her.
The woman was then forced to drive to another location where the suspect fled. She drove home and called police.
Detectives say they found Zendejas with a loaded, semi-automatic handgun.
He is being held on $1 million bail. He was booked for kidnapping with the intent to commit rape and spousal rape.
