LA Kings Trade Bernier To Leafs For Frattin, Scrivens

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Kings have traded goaltender Jonathan Bernier for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens, and a draft pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team announced Sunday.

"We moved Jonathan Bernier for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens and a second round pick in either [20]14 or [20]15," Vice President/Assistant General Manager Ron Hextall said.

Hextall explained that the deal has been ongoing "for months."

"Matt is a power forward. He's got speed. He's a real powerful body. He's got good hands. He can score goals ... he's a playoff-type of player," he said.

Bernier was drafted by the organization in 2006 in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft.

"Jonathan's been with us a long time. He's been a great soldier for us. He's been a very good player for us," Hextall said. "We wish Jon the best and thank him for everything he's done for us."
