La Crescenta Residents Brace For Flooding, Mudslides
LA CRESCENTA (CBSLA.com) — After a day of near steady rain, residents of La Crescenta are bracing for flooding and possible mudslides.
No evacuations have been ordered but CBS2's Amy Johnson, reporting from the community, said residents were on edge.
Many of the streets, she reported, were lined with debris-blocking K-rails. Many of the K-rails were bolted to the street.
Residents are concerned there hasm't been enough vegetation growth in the hills scorched by the Station Fire four and one-half years ago.
Heavy rains, no where for the rain to go, muddy hills with little to no vegetation can often add up to disaster.
Johnson reports residents are all too familiar with the power of Mother Nature when cars and homes were swept away by the force of the rushing waters and mud.
In addition to the K-rails, residents were also making use of many sandbags.
