LA County Sheriff's Bloodhound Credited With Helping To Sniff Out A Criminal

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff bloodhound is credited with helping to sniff out a criminal.

The alleged perpetrator broke into a sheriff's station and two patrol cars.

Officials said the suspect cut himself during the break-in and left blood at the scene.

A bloodhound named Alaska went to work and was hot on the suspect's scent for more than an hour and a half.

Investigators say the 27-year-old suspect -- identified on the LA Country Sheriff's Department website as Luis Angel Palacio -- heard about the search and gave himself up at the Inglewood police station before the dog came barking.

Palacio was booked at South Los Angeles Sheriff's station for burglary, vandalism and for DUI. He is scheduled to appear in Inglewood Court on February 27.
