Official: 'LA's Economic Emergency'

LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070) — Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich wants California to immediately declare an "economic emergency" amid an ever-worsening budget crisis.

In a letter to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Antonovich says the failure to pass a new budget leaves California in dire straits and that every aspect of state government needs to be re-evaluated.

Antonovich also suggests some possible extreme reforms, including just a part-time legislature, an overhaul of the Civil Service system, and maybe even an end to term limits.
