LA County Hits 10 Million Population Mark
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County has broken another population milestone.
KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports the county is the first in the U.S. to hit the 10 million mark.

Based on data from the California Department of Finance data released Thursday, the county's official population is estimated at 10,019,365 people in just over 4,000 square miles as of July 1.
The number means L.A. County would rank eighth among state populations in the U.S. and as the 88th most populous nation in the world, topping Georgia (9.9 million), Michigan (9.9 million), and Arizona (6.5 million).
The 10 million figure includes all residents currently living in Los Angeles County, regardless of immigration status.
Growth in the densely-populated county has inched along in recent years at a clip of just under 1 percent annually, compared with 0.36 percent three years ago, according to state estimates cited by the Daily News.
Despite the milestone, one West Hollywood resident said he isn't feeling crowded - yet.
"This is the place to live, good weather 24 hours a day, 12 months a year," he said. "That's why people move here."
The Department of Finance data comes on the heels of a report that found more than half of all Californians live in just five counties: Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino.
