LA County Deputies Reunite Bellflower Man With His Stolen Lizard
BELLFLOWER (AP) — They didn't have to call Ace Ventura, or any other pet detective. A group of LA County deputies solved the case of the lizard larceny on their own.
The Sheriff's Department said in a statement Thursday night that deputies had reunited a man and his longtime iguana, whose name is just "Lizard," five months after he was stolen.
Lizard, who had lived at the auto shop of owner Ken Schmidt for 17 years, was the only apparent thing stolen when the Bellflower business was burglarized in December.
Deputies say blood near a broken window at the scene led to a suspect, and when they served a search warrant near his Downey home they found a loaded gun, marijuana, hashish oil and the missing iguana.
Lizard and Schmidt were reunited Thursday.
