LA Councilwoman Hahn Proposes Fan Ownership Of Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles Councilwoman Janice Hahn says Dodger fans should be able to buy the team and is pushing Congress to allow them to do so.
The Janice Hahn for Congress campaign Friday called on Congress to pass the "Give Fans A Chance" Act that has stalled in congressional sessions.
The act would allow fans to buy stock in the Dodgers through a public offering similar to that of the Green Bay Packers.
"The Dodgers have been previously owned by FOX and the McCourt family, it is clear that the only ones who have the teams best interest at heart are the fans," said Councilwoman Janice Hahn in a press release.
The "Give Fans A Chance" Act would have clear a resolution passed by Major League Baseball in 1961 that prevents fan ownership.
Hahn said she plans to introduce an amended version of the act if elected to Congress in 2012. She was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2001.
