L.A. Makes 2nd Arrest In Billboard Crackdown
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles city prosecutors have made their second arrest in their avowed crackdown on illegal billboards.
The city attorney's office says Siamak Rahimi was arrested Monday on charges that he installed and maintained a giant advertisement on a vacant office building he owns near Los Angeles International Airport.
Prosecutors say the 56-year-old Santa Monica resident was arrested after he failed to respond to several safety and fire code citations.
Officials say unpermitted giant signs violate city safety codes and the ban passed last year by the City Council on so-called supergraphics.
Rhombi remains jailed on $75,000 bail. There was no phone number listed under his name.
