Kobe Bryant Shoots For First Time Since Shoulder Surgery

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A day after surprising Taylor Swift at her concert at Staples Center on Friday, Kobe Bryant took to Instagram to tell fans that he was shooting in the gym for the first time since having shoulder surgery.

Bryant had the surgery in January to repair a torn rotator cuff, but has not been able to practice his shooting until Saturday.

The Lakers first preseason game is on October 4th against the Utah Jazz, although fans probably won't get the chance to see Bryant back in action until the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, on October 28th.

Bryant posted a selfie of himself in the gym to Instagram with the caption, "First day back on the court shooting! Bout damn time!! #shoulderrecovery #20thseason @drinkbodyarmor #Lakers"

The original time table for Bryant's recovery when he had surgery in late January was around nine months.

The Lakers added plenty of talent around Bryant this off-season, but the Lakers success will hinge on Bryant's ability to stay healthy and perform like he has for most of his 19-year career.
