Knife-Wielding Suspect Kidnaps, Sexually Assaults Woman He Approached At Walmart Parking Lot
CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Corona police are searching for a knife-wielding suspect who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman he approached at a Walmart parking lot last week.
The 34-year-old victim drove to the superstore located at 479 N. McKinley Avenue around 9 p.m. April 4.
As she exited her car, a man asked her for spare change.
The suspect then forced his way into the car, brandished a knife and ordered the victim to drive to a secluded area in Riverside County, where the alleged assault happened.
Around 4 a.m. the next morning, the suspect fled after the victim drove him to La Sierra and Indiana avenues in Riverside.
The suspect was described as Caucasian, about 40 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slender build. He was wearing jean pants, a grey sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.
Some shoppers told KCAL9's Crystal Cruz that they're less inclined to give people change after learning about the incident.
"I've done that. I've given change to people. I do. I turn around, go look in my purse, and for someone to do that, it just scares me," Adriana Serrano said.
Customer Meghan Christensen said she's prepared for an attacker situation that may unfold.
"I know that when I'm in the parking lot by myself, I hold the key out like this, just in case someone tries to come at me," she said.
