Kings Celebrate Stanley Cup Victory With Downtown Parade, Rally
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Loyal Kings fans lined downtown Los Angeles streets Monday afternoon for a royal procession — a parade to honor the Stanley Cup-winning team.
In celebration of the team's second-ever Stanley Cup, the parade pulled out all the stops.
At noon, the players, coaches and their families boarded nine double-decker buses at 5th and Figueroa and traveled one mile south to Chick Hearn Court.
"The parade is a chance for the fans to hear directly from the Kings players. It's a great moment for the players and the fans," said Michael Roth of AEG.
Figueroa was closed between 3rd Street and Pico between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Chick Hearn Court between Figueroa and Georgia was closed from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Once at Staples, a sold-out rally with 20,000 fans began around 1 p.m.

"It's great," says ardent fan John Marriott. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Cup and the players who had such a great run."
The team says merchandise at the Kings team shop — everything from inflatable Stanley Cups to hats and jerseys — is selling
briskly.
Later Monday, Mayor Eric Garcetti will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35 p.m. to collect his bet with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio as he sings Randy Newman's "I Love LA".
