Kings Reach New 6-Year Deal With Slava Voynov
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings have reached agreement on terms of a new six-year contract with defenseman Slava Voynov.
The 23-year-old Voynov contributed six goals and 13 points during the Kings' playoff run, which ended with a loss to Chicago in the Western Conference finals. He set a Kings single-season playoff record for most goals by a defenseman (6) and most game-winning goals (4).
Voynov totaled new career highs for points (25) and assists (19) during the regular season, with two of his six regular-season goals serving as game-winners.
Voynov is part of a core of young Kings who are already taking on significant roles, including defensemen Drew Doughty and Jake Muzzin.
