Kings Place Scott Parse On Injured Reserve

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles Kings left wing Scott Parse needs surgery on his hip that will keep him out for three to four months.

The Los Angeles Kings have put left wing Scott Parse on injured reserve before he undergoes hip surgery next week.

The Kings moved Parse to injured reserve on Thursday, clearing a roster spot while Parse is out for three to four months.

Parse was projected to play on Los Angeles' top line but missed the Kings' first 11 games with a groin injury. He played five games after returning, but the Kings announced Tuesday he'll need significant surgery.

Parse is scheduled to have his hip labrum repaired in Tennessee on Tuesday.

Los Angeles has taken the early Pacific Division lead despite three regulars sidelined by significant injuries. Alexei Ponikarovsky has a broken finger, and defenseman Willie Mitchell has a broken wrist.
