Gunman Sought In South Los Angeles Killing
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Officials are on the hunt Thursday for the suspect who fatally shot another man in the back while the victim was crossing the street in South Los Angeles.
Herbert Eugene Seymour Jr. was fatally shot while walking home from a liquor store near 104th Street and Western Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"A suspect approached him from behind and shot him several times for no apparent reason," French said. "Seymour collapsed in the middle of the street."
Seymour was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect fled the scene heading north on Western Avenue.
The killer is described as in his late teens to early 20s, French said.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
