Kid-Friendly Breweries In SoCal

While on vacation this summer, my husband and I wanted to sample a few local breweries and found that actually visiting a brewery with kids can be a bit of no-no in many locations. I guess there is just something about bringing your baby...to a bar. Some fantastic breweries, on the other hand, welcome your littlest ones and give you the chance to enjoy a pint or two without paying for a sitter! So raise a glass and cheer for these great kid-friendly breweries.

Tustin Brewery

13011 Newport Avenue
Tustin, CA 92780
(714) 665-BEER
tustinbrewery.com

Tustin Brewery, celebrating its 17th season, welcomes your littlest ones with craft-made root beer and a full lineup of yummy eats including pizza, spaghetti, mac and cheese, corn dogs, burgers, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, and brownie sundaes for desert. Nightly specials for the grownups include Taco Tuesdays, Trivia Nights, and Pizza & Pitcher Nights. If the nighttime crowd is too busy for you, head to Tustin Brewery for lunch or even breakfast.

Bootlegger's Brewery

130 S. Highland Ave.
Fullerton, CA 92832
(714) 871-2337
bootleggersbrewery.com

This small microbrewery in downtown Fullerton doesn't advertise itself as a kid-friendly establishment, but numerous children enjoy their time in the tasting room with their parents. Bring your own snacks or take advantage of food truck weekends to feed the little ones. Kids will love the arcade games, corn hole, and the life-sized Jenga.

Golden Road Brewing

5410 West San Fernando Rd.
Los Angeles, CA 90039
(213) 373-4677
goldenroad.la

This bustling-with-children brewery and pub boasts a kid's menu (offering spaghetti and grilled cheese- vegan options available for both!) or you can encourage them to try the Pub pretzel or Sweet Potater-Tots. I personally recommend the battered avocado fritters served with chipotle aoili sauce but that might be a stretch for little ones. Be sure to raise a glass and yell when a train goes by; your kids will love the fun!

Karl Strauss Brewery

South Coast Plaza
901a South Coast Dr.
Costa Mesa, CA 92626
(714) 546-2739

Universal City Walk
1000 Universal Studios Blvd.
Universal City, CA 91608
(818) 753-2739

With two OC/LA locations to serve you (and five more in San Diego), Karl Strauss Brewery is one of SoCal's most famous local beers. Kids can grab a bite to eat from the full kid's menu (everything from burgers and noodles to chicken and fruit) while parents sample varieties of beer. Feature flights rotate on a monthly basis, so there is always something new to try.

Rock Bottom Brewery

1 Pine Ave.
Long Beach, CA 90802
(562) 308-2255
rockbottom.com

With locations across the entire US, Rock Bottom isn't exactly a local brewery, but it does boast a thoughtful kids menu and an awesome ocean view from the patio. Rock Bottom is also a restaurant with a mission, cooperating with parent company The CraftWorks Foundation to combat hunger in local communities, and inspire a culture of giving and volunteerism. How cool is that?

Backstreet Brewery

Multiple Locations
www.lamppostpizza.com

Small microbreweries located inside neighborhood Lamppost Pizza Restaurants, Backstreet Brewery offers eight varieties of small batch brews made right on the premises. Play some games, chow down on some tasty pizza, and enjoy a local brew. Still too much of a drive? Skip the microbrewery and head straight to a Lamppost/Backstreet tap house location in Huntington Beach, Yorba Linda, and Vista.
