KFI Traffic Reporter Injured In Corona Plane Crash
CORONA (CBS) — Traffic reporter Mike Nolan was seriously injured Friday night in a plane crash that downed power lines in Corona, according to police.
Nolan, who reports for KFI-AM 640, was traveling in a single engine Cessna 182 when it crashed in a field about two miles east of the Corona Airport at around 6:30 p.m., according to Allen Kenitzer of the Federal Aviation Administration. Kenitzer said the plane caught on fire.
The plane hit power lines and sent them down near River Road and Lincoln Avenue in Corona. The plane is registered to Nolan, according to the FAA website.
Nolan's injuries do not appear to be life threatening, according to the KFI station.
A passenger, identified only as Nolan's 18-year-old nephew, was also injured. Both were taken to the hospital.
The cause of the crash is now under investigation and KFI reported that engine failure appears to have been the primary cause.
