Kemp Finalizes $160M Contract With Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It's official, Matt Kemp will be playing baseball in Los Angeles for the next eight years.
The Dodgers center fielder finalized a $160 million, eight-year contract extension with the team.
The contract was signed at a news conference Friday with general manager Ned Colletti and troubled owner Frank McCourt.
Kemp, 27, hit 39 home runs this past season, with a batting average of .324. The slugger also drove in 126 runs.
In 2011, Kemp won the Hank Aaron award the National League's Most Outstanding Offensive Player, the "Baseball America Player of the Year," and is in the running for the NL's Most Valuable Player prize.
