Katy Perry Leads With Nine VMA Noms
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Katy Perry received nine nominations putting her in the lead going into the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in August at the Nokia Theatre.
Adele and Kanye West are close behind with seven nominations each.
Perry's major hit "Firework" is up for video of the year against Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," Tyler the Creator's "Yonkers," Bruno Mars' "Grenade" and the Beastie Boys' "Make Some Noise."
Perry and Adele are also nominated for best female video, along with Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."
Up for best male video are Cee Lo Green for "F*ck You," Eminem featuring Rihanna for "Love the Way You Lie," Bruno Mars' "Grenade," Kanye West featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi for "All of the Lights" and Justin Bieber with "You Smile."
