Dodgers Designate Mat Latos For Assignment
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated pitcher Mat Latos for assignment on Thursday.
Latos, who was acquired in a trade-deadline deal with the Miami Marlins, was 0-3 with the Dodgers while posting a 6.66 ERA.
He most recently suffered the loss in the 16th inning of Tuesday's game against the Rockies, after surrendering a home run to Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado.

With the playoffs approaching, some are suggesting the move indicates that the Dodgers will use either a three or four man rotation.
Latos DFA actually makes some sense. Division is won, no need for a fifth starter in playoffs, may as well get the 40-man spot.

Latos said his farewell's via Instagram on Thursday, thanking the Dodgers and wishing them the best of luck going forward into the month of October.
A corresponding move has also been made as the Dodgers have activated pitcher Carlos Frias from the 60-day disabled list.
