Hill Fire: Evacuations Lifted For 628-Acre Jurupa Valley Fire
JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA) - A wildfire that erupted Wednesday in Jurupa Valley threatened a mobile home park and other locations amid intense Santa Ana winds.
The Hill Fire was 30% contained by 6:45 p.m. after it broke out shortly after 10 a.m. just north of the 60 Freeway along Granite Hill Drive near Pedley Road, according to Riverside County Fire.
Flames quickly spread to about 620 acres and sparked mandatory evacuations for the Bravo Estates Mobile Home Park at 4080 Pedley Road.
All evacuations had been lifted as of 6:45 p.m Wednesday evening.
Approximately 30 engine crews and 200 personnel were sent to the location and encountered flames burning along a hillside, officials said.
Cal Fire water-dropping helicopters were called in to make runs after air tankers were grounded because of the winds.
At least one person was hospitalized in unknown condition after being evacuated from a health care facility, according to CAL FIRE Capt. Richard Cordova. No homes have burned.
Fire officials set up an evacuation center at Patriot High School located at 4355 Camino Real.
County fire officials also requested SoCal Edison de-energize power lines between Mission Boulevard and Pedley Road as a precaution to prevent collapsed transmission lines from causing additional fires.
