STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — The hot weather continues for Southern California!
An excessive heat warning was dropped for the San Gabriel Valley because a stronger marine influence, but remains in effect for the Inland Empire, Santa Clarita, and the high desert.
The dominating ridge of high pressure continues to meander throughout the Southwest. This will bring us the extended period of above average temperatures.
Similar to Sunday, the high pressure is pulling up some monsoonal moisture and this will translate into some clouds in the forecast and the very slight chance for an elevated thunderstorm. This would simply be a storm that occurs in the mid and upper levels with any rainfall evaporating before making it down to the ground.
This phenomenon could bring a dry lightning strike, which will up some of the fire danger.
The monsoonal flow relaxes a bit through the week, but inland temperatures are going to stay generally very hot through much of this week.
Basin - upper 80s to low 90s
Beaches - low 80s
Valleys - 100 to 104
Mountains - mid 80s
Deserts - 105 to 110
