Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Dec. 17)
STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — The main cold front for Wednesday's storm has pushed east and the heavy rain should be ending within the next hour or two.
The area basically received .75 to 1.00 inch from this latest hit. Rainfall rates stayed below the warning criteria (although there were some heavy downpours through the night).
There will be a slight chance for a shower through the day Wednesday as the atmosphere is unstable. Especially with the sun poking through a brief heavy shower could pop up.
Otherwise look for cool temperatures Wednesday. With the cold air in place, the snow levels will drop to about 5,000 feet. Accumulations of about 3 to 6 inches can be expected above 6,000 feet.
There are two more waves of energy moving through over the next 48 hours. Both look like they will fizzle out as they approach the area. The first one will be Wednesday night and the next one will be Thursday night. Don't expect much of any rain from those fronts.
Temperatures will remain below average until the weekend. It looks like a strong ridge of high pressure is going to strengthen in the Pacific, which combined with a surface off-shore flow will bring some warming.
By Sunday and the beginning of next week expect daytime highs near 80. The long range models are showing a little cooling for Christmas, but not bad. And right now it looks dry through the end of the year.
