Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 6)
STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — There will be morning low clouds and mild conditions Wednesday and the next couple of days due to an on-shore flow.
The afternoon should be quite nice with temperatures in the low 80s in the basin to upper 80s & low 90s inland. Coastal communities will be hovering in the mid to upper 70s.
The low that pounded the San Gabriel range over the weekend is still floundering away up north, it will rotate around and bring the very slight threat of a thunderstorm to the central coast (Santa Barbara and north) Wednesday. It will be replaced by a trough along the west coast, which will keep our weather consistent into the weekend.
The latest forecast models are now pulling back from the extreme heat next week, now it looks like the on-shore flow will continue. At this point, expect a slight warm up starting Sunday, but it will keep us around our seasonal averages (mid 80s).
A quick note about the two hurricanes headed towards Hawaii: Iselle is still a hurricane, but it is weakening fast and bumping into a big dry air mass that will help it weaken even more. It will be a tropical storm or even tropical depression by the time it hits late Friday early Saturday with winds at about 40 mph and a good dose of rain.
Right behind it is Julio, which is a hurricane now and it too will weaken to tropical storm status when it nears the islands Sunday, however the system will veer to the north and it will not be a direct hit.
