Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 17)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — We have a steady stream of moisture moving through the region Friday, that is going to give us a chance at thunderstorms.

Because of the widespread moisture, just about any location has the chance at a pop up shower or thunderstorm through the morning.

It will be warm again today with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 in the basin and near 100 in our valleys.

This heating will help to destabilize the atmosphere and that means there is a chance for thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts Friday afternoon as well.

The dewpoints will be fairly high so it is going to feel pretty sticky around the area.

There is a flash flood watch in effect for most of the inland empire, Apple Valley, and Mountain communities.

The moisture decreases somewhat tomorrow although there still is a chance for a thunderstorm in the mountains and deserts.

By Sunday the high is going to shift west which makes it harder to pull up the monsoonal flow.

As far as the heat goes, no real change until maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, and right now that cooling doesn't look all that dramatic.

We are definitely in the dog days of summer.

Beaches - mid 70s

Basin -mid 80s

Valleys - upper 90s to low 100s

Deserts - low 100s

Mountains - low 80s
