Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 15)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — While the coastal communities will wake up to some patchy low clouds Wednesday morning, the tremendous heat continues for inland communities.

The inversion is strong, but shallow...that means temps in the coastal plain should drop by a degree or two for the next couple of days.

An area of low pressure to the north and west of Southern California is responsible. However it won't do much for the valleys as the stagnate high remains over the southwest.

By Saturday the high pressure drifts back to the west and that will keep our inland locked with daytime highs over 100 degrees through Sunday. We will also watch for moisture to be drawn up into our local mountains over the next couple of days.

It does look like next week we may get some relief...as the high moves back to the east.

Beaches - mid 70s
Basin -upper 80s
Valleys - upper 90s to low 100s
Deserts - low 100s
Mountains - low 80s
